Arve Henriksen
Arve Henriksen is a classically trained Norwegian trumpeter whose ethereal, Japanese-influenced playing places him in a league of his own. Utilizing electronic atmospheres, ambient textures, and varied embouchures, he creates a warm, harmonically expressive sound reflecting both the natural world and sacred spaces. A founding member of improv-experimental group Supersilent, he records primarily for Rune Grammofon and ECM. Inspired by the shakuhachi flute while studying at Trondheim Conservatory, his minimalist aesthetic shaped landmark recordings including Chiaroscuro, Places of Worship, and Towards Language. A prolific collaborator with artists from Trio Mediaeval to J. Peter Schwalm, Henriksen maintains his singular sonic signature across every context.
